None of us are perfect parents, but somehow we taught our children to love the Lord, and now the hearts of our children have become hearts that God can use. That means that God has also been using us (the parents) all along to further His kingdom. Giving our children the blessing to “go to the ends of the earth” has so many emotions attached to it. As my only daughter and her family leave in a few weeks ... to work in Africa, I find myself rejoicing… and mourning at the same time. Through much thought and prayer God has placed on my heart that there is a need for moms to support one another during this difficult season in life. I would like to start a support group to encourage and support one another. We could pray together, study together and have meaningful fellowship with other moms who struggle with children and grandchildren living so far away." Over the years, women have come and gone in this group but it has continued to meet faithfully. Along the way God gave the vision to encourage the formation of new like-minded groups around the world for mothers, grandmothers, and sisters of those who serve God cross-culturally.
Our prayers will strengthen our children to be like a tree planted by streams of water, rooted in Christ, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither, so that they can be effective in God's kingdom service.
We come together as women who have sent their children out into the world to do God's work. We encourage and strengthen each other so that we can pray powerfully for the world that our children are engaged in.
